Speaker Bio
Bianca Mayes-Davis (she/her), is a Black, queer, femme who works passionately to ensure equitable healthcare for all. As the director of health equity at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, she established a federation-wide health equity strategy to improve health outcomes for communities, patients, partnerships, and staff. In addition to working in the non-profit sector, Bianca joined Monmouth University’s Physical Education Department of the School of Nursing and Health Studies as an adjunct professor teaching Human Sexuality. She is an equity strategist and public health advocate with 10 years of experience working in race and health disparities, health promotion and communication, social determinants of health, and sexual and reproductive health.

Bianca volunteers to support the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital’s (RWJUH) PROUD Gender Center Advisory Council to improve healthcare providers’ cultural and clinical competency for transgender and nonbinary health. Her advocacy efforts helped to pass New Jersey legislation (S2545) to establish specific rights and protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, undesignated/non-binary, questioning, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI+) older adults and HIV-positive residents of long-term care facilities. From 2019 to 2021 she also served as Co-Chair of the Issues Committee for the New Jersey HIV/AIDS Health Planning Group by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of HIV, STD, and TB Services. 

Last year, the RWJUH’s PROUD Gender Center of New Jersey awarded Bianca the 2022 Human Rights Advocacy Award for her leadership and contributions in local, state, and national level education and political advocacy to promoting diversity and inclusion,  eliminating discrimination, harassment, and hate-motivated violence towards the LGBTQ+ community. In 2019, she was recognized as #79 on the INSIDER OUT 100 NJ’S LGBT Powerlist.
