Inequities in our healthcare system start with how we collect data on race and ethnicity. One way to address this problem is using standardized language and enabling patients to self-report data efficiently.

During this session, Kasey McCreery, NP-C, MSHI, CEN, Director of Clinical Documentation at Phreesia, will examine the challenges with current systems of collecting race and ethnicity data and share why self-reported data is vital to improving health equity.  She’ll also discuss how using standardized language and more detailed options for race and ethnicity can help healthcare organizations capture the most accurate and meaningful data about patients. Finally, Kasey will share early results from a pilot with a Phreesia client that is using standardized language that meets market needs and improves the patient experience. She’ll explain how these learnings are also being used to improve collection of social needs, sexual orientation and gender identity, patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and more.
