Making Data Useful

Can I trust my clinical data? Are the data safe and effective—and will they be tomorrow? If we add a new data partner, will data quality get better? … Or get worse?

Every health care organization should be able to answer these questions, but most of the time, they can’t. As outlined in JAMIA June 2023, “There does not currently exist a standard approach to assessing EHR data quality.”

Lack of trust in data presents a major roadblock to adopting value-based care. To put it simply, if you don’t trust the data, you can’t tie your financials to that data.

To date, the NCQA’s primary source verification process has played the key role in facilitating trust in clinical data for value-based care. As we move toward real-time interfaces, what will a population-scale (QHIN scale) trust mechanism look like?

In today’s session, we’ll explore the work that NCQA and Elevance Health are doing to address some of these fundamental “trust in data” questions. By attending, you’ll not only be able to answer the question, “When can I trust my clinical data?” but also, “How can I get involved?”
